What is 3D Digital Double Jaw Surgery and Facegide?

3D digital double jaw surgery is a computer-assisted surgery, and Facegide is an integrated solution that supports it. This solution includes software, surgical guides, and custom-made metal plates. Using the R2GATE program, I create 3D images and proceed with virtual surgery using Facegide Lite. After that, custom metal plates (Faceplate) and guides (Saw guide) are created and applied to the actual surgery.

Case Example

This patient had a receding and asymmetrical chin. A precise surgical plan was established through CT analysis. Lefort 1 osteotomy, SSRO osteotomy of the lower jaw, genioplasty, and mandibular angle reduction surgery were performed, and the movement and reduction amounts were detailed using Facegide Lite.

Through post-surgery simulation, we confirmed skeletal changes and adjusted the occlusal plane angle to correct the asymmetry. By performing counterclockwise rotational double jaw surgery, the inclined occlusal plane was leveled to further improve the patient's asymmetry.

Surgery Results

Let's look at the actual surgery results. Visually, the asymmetry and receding chin seem to have been improved. However, it is necessary to verify whether the surgery was executed according to plan.

By comparing the patient’s condition at 5 weeks and 5 months post-surgery, we found a slight recurrence, but the receding chin and asymmetry were greatly improved compared to before surgery. The post-surgical analysis closely matched the pre-surgical plan, confirming a successful outcome.
